If You haven't heard yet then Legendary MC Guru of the group Gang Starr is in a coma after suffering from a heart attack: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1632854/20100301/gang_starr.jhtml He is supposed to undergo surgery today. As a Hip Hop head and a fan of Gang Starr I hope is able to pull through this and not leave us wit these wack ass ringtone rappers. 3. "Militia."

DJ Premier is probably one of the best hip-hop producers of all time. While Guru was talented, I don't think he'd have gotten nearly as far as he had with DJ Premier behind him.

And Moment of Truth is probably my favorite song of these.

Another track he did with Chief Kamachi that was great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95mTHzMEv5c

I hadn't heard about his heart attack and coma. I definitely send well wishes his way.

6. There's a good argument for that
considering the fact of how their solo careers went which I think that Guru's Jazzmatazz is REALLY underated and of course DJ Premier went on to become one of the best producer ever known to man. If any cat that could get me to listen to Christina Aguilera because of their beats then that's sayin something.

7. Ew, I didn't know he worked with Christina Aguilera.
You know, I almost deleted that comment because I later thought it inappropriate in a thread about Guru being in the hospital, but I'll clarify instead: I think Guru is an amazing MC. But (IMO) it was Premier's beats that allowed him a much wider audience than he normally would've had. Look at Rakim, one of the best MCs ever, and very few people other than hip hop fans have heard of him.

Anyway, I definitely didn't mean to hijack your thread by quibbling over Guru's skills. Sorry about that.

11. If talent was what made you a star Gang Starr would be one of the biggest stars rap ever had.
Too bad so much other crap gets in the way.

12. You Damn Right
on that one! Rappers like Soulja Boy get more regarded in music than cats like Guru, which is a damn shame.
