the rethugs have to kill healthcare because people will like it. |
|
even if WE don't.
the people will finally see someone trying to do something about the insane costs of healthcare and reward those who at least tried to get something done....the democrats.
whereas the rethugs have fought any type of reform for years and years.
IMHO

1. The Repubs and the Dems BOTH want for-profit, mandated insurance care |

What WE want is irrelevant

2. Whether the people will like it is less important than voters perceiving |
|
the Democratic Party as being effective. The repubs want it to fail, so that the Democrats will look like failures.
That is why the Dems shouldn't give the repubs the time of day. They want the Dems and Obama to fail. It is really that simple. The Dems should act tough, like bullies even, and get shit done.

4. Many of them have said over the years |
|
that if the dems succeed in getting health care they (the repubs) can kiss their electoral chances bye bye for a very long time. They know the American people will totally appreciate the health care program.

5. In my opinion, people will find very little to love about mandated health insurance |

Edited on Mon Mar-01-10 02:31 PM by ixion
which, incidentally, is NOT health care, nor should it be confused with such.
Frankly, I don't know what they're thinking trying to shove this piece of garbage through the chute.

a watered down bill. Say what you want, but if it doesn't get done, it's going to be hard to blame ONLY repukes.

10. Also because it will show that government can get something done |
|
Which is pretty counter to everything they've been saying for the last 30+ years. Despite their best efforts to show how inept government is during the Bush years, there are still some malcontent holdouts who think that our society can band together to accomplish things to benefit large segments of the population. Hell, they even tried to kill Manhattan and New Orleans, and some people stubbornly refused to get on the "no government" bandwagon. The fewer people who expect anything out of the government, the more Treasury dollars they can divert to their pals and campaign financiers.

15. People will like government if they get good healthcare. People will also |
|
like sharing and being part of a bigger whole. This will help foster empathy which is the enemy of the GOP and neocons.
