Republicans Will Excuse Their Inaction By Demonizing The Unemployed - Welfare Queen, Part II
Edited on Mon Mar-01-10 10:15 PM by TomCADem
I think the Republicans will gain seats in 2010 by claiming that they will fix unemployment. However, if they do get majorities in Congress in 2010, I expect that they will pivot, and simply repeat the strategy of the 1980s, and replace "Welfare Queens" with "Unemployment Benefit Queens."

We saw a bit of this with Senator Kyl claiming that unemployment benefits make people less inclined to seek a job. Well, if the Republicans do well in 2010, watch as the corporate media rolls out the "Welfare Queen" attack of the current decade. Thus, Republicans will be seen as virtuous by attacking demonizing those who are unemployed.

2. Well of course.
We wouldn't want people to become "dependent on the system!" At least not unless it involves profit.

3. Dream on - that's why the internet tubes were invented -- keep the lies to a dull roar
TV and Radio? That's what we do not have control of. I see all of this biting them in the ass. They don't have the money like they used to either, though SCOTUS helped 'pugs out with the funneling of money into elections. See? They have to cheat to even come close.

5. With Pay To Post Astro Turf Operations, You Can Control The Blogs
The McCain campaign started to do this by offering rewards to folks who posted in favor of McCain and against President Obama during the election. If you are willing to spam right wing attacks, you may be able to make some cash.

4. Hey Kyl... if you don't want people to be on unemployment benefits, then ...
... why did you let employers deduct money from workers' paychecks?
