3. The man is not your run of the mill, every day "comedian".
His abilities are no surprise to anyone familiar with his background.
He attended Harvard College and graduated cum laude in 1973 with a B.A. in political science.

4. In my experience, most of the good working comedians we knew
went far out of their way to hide their brains and their academic achievements -- which tend not to sell in blender bars. lol

6. Yes he always did political humour. I liked it when he would draw a whole
map of the United States and say who would win which races. He's got quite a background in politics. I'm glad he is doing well in the Senate.

9. Franken and Carlin were/are two of the most intelligent comedians that I've ever heard.
Carlin may not have had the sheepskin that Franken possesses, but he was every bit as insightful.

:D

5. It's funny that he seems to be doing the same thing in both jobs
Pointing out absurdity and deflating overlarge egos.

8. When he first began his campaign I felt he came across -- not weak, but not
with a lot of confidence, or something. Maybe just a lack of the polish/BS we're used to hearing from politicians. I didn't think he'd do well in the race, and once elected, I wasn't too certain how he'd do on the job. Boy, have I been blown away! He's so impressive and inspires confidence! I'm so glad for him, his constituents and our whole country that I was SO WRONG!

11. Reagan was an abysmal actor...both in Hollywood and when acting like a President.
He even sucked on Death Valley Days.

My favorite is The Truth. He brilliantly dismantles the rw talking points in that book.

14. Al Franken was always way more a writer than he was a comedian.
He is one of the few, very few, in the Senate I admire.

21. I think Franken is a great comedian. It's subjective.
Maybe I'm one of the few who loved "The Oy Oy Oy Show". Cracked me up every time. :)

But, it's more important he amuse me on the senate floor. I will give you that.

23. I had high hopes for Al as a senator
but he has greatly exceeded my expectations. Plus he has the added bonus of driving the repugs absolutely batshit.

I'm happy with my two senators in NY but I'd love to clone Al 100 times - two for each state.
