5. KBH - too smart for the job these days?
The woman who got up on the Senate floor and intoned in drop-dead seriousness that when contradicta was up for Secretary of State after having been glaringly inadequate as National Security Advisor (9/11 happened on HER watch, too), someone's past track record on a job should have no bearing on whether they're fit for their next job.

My jaw dropped at that one when I saw her spout that one on CSPAN - and I'm STILL stunned by it.

3. I still think this concession seems a little bit early

Guess Hutchison is just ready to put this whole thing behind her. I wonder if she'll decline to participate in a run-off if Goodhair drops below 50%? haha

6. Go BILL WHITE!!!
This is GREAT news! It'll be close but I think Bill White is going to stand a pretty good chance here in TX. He's the best chance we've had in Texas since our dear Ann Richards was governor. Check him out and donate if you can!

14. I was manning the Texas desk for VNS when Ann won.

They gave me Texas because I was willing to stay late. And that one almost went to dawn.

Wouldn't trade that memory for anything.

15. +2!
Poll from 2/12: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/2/12/21610/9156

snip-

Awaiting the GOP nominee, in all likelihood, will be former Houston Mayor Bill White, who has held significant leads in every Democratic poll to date. Recent polls by both PPP and Rasmussen have shown that White could be potentially competitive in November. This is a point confirmed by the general election trial heats in our DK/R2K poll:

General Election

Gov. Rick Perry (R) 46
Bill White (D) 42

Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R) 47
Bill White (D) 41

Debra Medina (R) 44
Bill White (D) 43

White is presently in striking distance, no matter which Republican emerges from a bruising primary. As evidence of exactly how bruising this primary has become, there are more Republican undecideds than either Independents or Democrats.

snip-

White CAN beat goodhair! :)

9. Well, Rick Perry is pretty unpopular in Texas...
But those voting in the Republican primary of the party hearties. The hard right Christian conservatives. Hutchison is too moderate. She never stood a chance.

12. Yes...
That would be Bill White. And unlike last time, there aren't a bunch of idiot third party candidates to split up the anti-Perry vote.

BTW, Bill White is the very popular former mayor of Houston (termed out) who welcomed Katrina evacuees with open arms. He did himself a lot of good because Texans got to feel magnanimous about it which is something we love to do.
