That MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann would finish the month of January behind Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor in the cable news target adults 25-54 ratings isn’t at all a surprise, but the fact that he finished third behind Headline News’ Nancy Grace is. Even CNN’s Campbell Brown wasn’t far behind him.

In November, 2008 Olbermann was neck and neck in the adults 25-54 demo with O’Reilly, but now that Olbermann’s ratings are down has he become an easy target of opportunity?

Daily Finance asks “Is America Getting Over Keith Olbermann?“.

The Daily Show’s John Stewart called him out in a mock “Special Commentary“.

Even MSNBC’s own Joe Scarborough called him reckless.

Take care going up the ladder indeed. It’s hell on the way back down.

1. I rarely watch Keith anymore, but hasn't he been absent quite a bit
due to his father's illness? Maybe that explains the drop in ratings.

2. Keith is doing fine
3rd place for a liberal host isn't bad in today's insanity. And Nancy Grace isn't in the same genre and therefore doesn't really count. Her's is a smeary sensational gossip crime show where she decides who's guilty and why and has absolutely nothing to do with politics. Apples and oranges.

3. Even if those #s are right they show Keith is leading in real news shows
O'Rielly is propaganda and selling hate aka "looking out for the folks"
and Nancy Grace is just low rent porn .... "tonight why did this mother
of 3 machine gun her sisters @ a family picnic? ...... also more on
Vander Slutes and missing blond teens."

5. Liberal Hosts (fairly or unfairly) have to walk a fine line when they
take the path of pushing the envelope. When going after
the opposition, they can should be tough but must avoid
putting themselves in the same light as those they attack.

Avoid the content becoming so partisan it makes newcomers
question credibilty. The audience for a liberal host is
entirely different from that of a Beck audience. Avoid
permitting each show become a complete attack.

No milquetoast.
