NC congressman wants Ronald Reagan put on $50 bill

(AP) – 1 hour ago

RALEIGH, N.C. — A U.S. congressman from North Carolina wants the $50 bill redrawn to feature the face of former President Ronald Reagan.

Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry wants Congress to tell the U.S Treasury to replace former President Ulysses S. Grant on the bill. McHenry announced his bill Tuesday. He has 13 Republican co-sponsors.

5. Very
And I'm not really fond of that 'round these parts. Bad enough we have to put up with that kinda crap from various right leaning sites. Their next headline would be "Obama blocking Reagan from $50 bill" when it doesn't get out of subcommittee.

32. This was my thought too.
Grant is fitting on the $50.00 That was a lot of money back in his scandal ridden presidency. Same for Ronnie.

27. For many years now a group has been trying to get everything named after Saint Ronnie.
The group is called the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project. It was founded by Americans for Tax Reform, and is therefore supported by Grover Norquist and other rich people who don't want to pay any taxes. They want to name at least one notable landmark in every state after Saint Ronnie of Reagan, and then they want something named after him in every county.

Their motive is fairly transparent: If they can convince people that Saint Ronnie didn't suck, then people will conclude his policies were wonderful and that we should do more of the same. This is why we see so much worshipping of the president who said government was the problem and went on to prove it.

The wealthy elite consider this propaganda campaign as an investment that could pay off big for them in even more tax cuts for the wealthy at everybody else's expense. And they have been right, as we can easily see by even a casual reflection on the George W. Bush years alone.

;-)

Let's hope he doesn't make it to the fifty -- it might become burdensome to get along without using it in future (when with inflation, the twenty is passe for ATMs).

I think I could live with that. If it happens, I'll just refuse to accept $50's on the grounds that it is not legitimate currency.

25. Well I think Reagan was a bigger crook than Grant.
And Reagan might not have been a general but he played one in the movies. If I really wanted to capture the spirit ot the GOP I'd put the Devil's picture on the $50.00. Under St.Reagan and the two Bushes the $50.00 bill has become about as worthless as Reagan was.

40. Grant wasn't a crook-his associates were
He ended up needing to write his autobiography in order to leave his family with an inheritance. He was a terrible businessman, but a good general.

Reagan, on the other hand, did nothing good for this country, but died rich. Guess who is revered more by his party?

of economics started the downturn of this real problem we have today. Only the republicans are oh too stupid and stubborn to admit it.

$50 bill. :eyes:

They just refuse to let his myth die, will they? The Reagan legacy is that of corporate takeover, massive debt, anything-goes-for-the-rich "capitalism" and an eternal boot on the "Little Guy".

Wipe my ass with it before I spent it. If I didn't get enough shit on it, I'd deface it.
Reagan was a traitor, I don't care what anyone says. The CONS only ran him, because John Wayne was dead.

Not to mention, he killed my brother when he would not fund AIDS research early on. If ever there was a human being who deserves my wrath, it is he!
