Court Rules Zombies Allowed to Roam the Streets
Court Rules Zombies Allowed to Roam the Streets
Wednesday, March 03, 2010

Zombies in Minnesota have had their day in court, and won. A group dressed up as the undead to protest “mindless” consumerism at a July 2006 festival in Minneapolis were arrested by local police for disorderly conduct, resulting in a two-night stay in jail and one “zombie” having his prosthetic leg taken from him. Claiming they did nothing to break the law, the group sued the city and the police department. They lost their initial trial in district court, then appealed to a federal circuit court and were victorious.

n objectively reasonable person would not think probable cause exists under the Minnesota disorderly conduct statue to arrest a group of peaceful people for engaging in an artistic protest by playing music, broadcasting statements, dressing as zombies, and walking erratically in downtown Minneapolis during a week-long festival,” ruled the three-judge panel serving on the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

fortunate than them.

The do have the right to march for their cause but they are attention seeking idiots IMHO.

2. Well, "attention seeking" is sorta the main idea of the thing.
And I wouldn't characterize them as "idiots" if they're working toward increasing awareness of the American consumerist lifestyle.

It's a noble cause.

17. when I see posts like this decrying protestors, negative posts about people sticking their necks out
Edited on Wed Mar-03-10 11:52 PM by roguevalley
to show their opposition peacefully and raising profiles of problems, I can only wonder how much the decryers do for others. Abolitionists got arrested doing things about slavery. were they attention-seeking idiots too or is it possible for people to not only do things for others, sometimes in unusual ways so the issue will be noticed and do other things too? Some people can do two things at once.

8. It may seem silly at first blush, but the right to free speech was
seriously violated, so good for them! I wish more people who were abused during the Bush years would sue--to hell with those bogus Free Speech Zones. Bullshit.
