Source: Politico

The Republican National Committee plans to raise money this election cycle through an aggressive campaign capitalizing on “fear” of President Barack Obama and a promise to "save the country from trending toward socialism."

The strategy was detailed in a confidential party fundraising presentation, obtained by POLITICO, which also outlines how “ego-driven” wealthy donors can be tapped with offers of access and “tchochkes.”

The presentation was delivered by RNC Finance Director Rob Bickhart to top donors and fundraisers at a party retreat in Boca Grande, Florida on February 18, a source at the gathering said.

2. Fear.
That's what you do when you have no real, new ideas.

The GOP: The Party of Fear, or if you prefer, the Party of No.

Fuck 'em.

8. I wonder if they' ve thought of
adding a Sarah Palin bobble head doll to their list of "tchochkes." I'll bet that would bring in some bucks.

13. Everything we hate about socialism, Republicans brought US.
The large monopolies, Dems broke, Repubs fostered.

The corrupt officials, Repubs brought us five rotten Supreme Court Zombies.

Being poor without food and shelter in America, ... Thanks Repubs!

Our systems, economic, roads, health, ... breaking down for lack of care: Repubs.

AND, THE GOOD SIDE OF SOCIALISM:

Social Security, Repubs increased the government debt, AND increased the private debt of money-derivatives beyond belief, and to the degree that we may not be able to pay what we owe SS. Friends don't let friends vote Repub.

14. Instill fear in our gullible, "ego-driven wealthy donors." Great fund-raising strategy for Dems--

to poop on.

And to publicize the hell out of. Rub it in to those ego-driven wealthy Republican donors until their ego is too bruised to allow them to donate to Republicans anymore.

When Republicans learned of this, they emailed their big donors to warn them this was about to hit the media fan. They probably blamed it on the bad old liberal media---like Politico.

The only down side to this: It's the reason to fire Steele for which Republicans high up in the RNC have been waiting. In fact, that was the first reaction Joe Scarborough had on this news this morning. Apparently, though, Steele attempted to distance himself by saying he wasn't there when the presentation was made. (Talk about lame.) Why is that the down sie? I kind of like Steele--but only as head of the RNC, of course.

Better Steele heading the RNC than someone like Rove, IMO.
