CSM - "Republicans rage against reconciliation for healthcare reform"
Aren't you so glad that Republicans care so much for Democrats that they are offering them advice that if they pass HCR through reconciliation, they will lose seats? I guess if Democrats just kill the bill then, the Republicans will give up in the November elections?

:sarcasm:

President Obama’s call Wednesday for an “up-or-down vote” on healthcare reform may not sound like fighting words, but for Senate Republicans, it’s a call to arms.

“If this bill is passed, in the next election every Republican candidate will be campaigning to repeal it,” said Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell in a briefing after the president’s White House statement.

He said the bill involves $500 billion cuts to Medicare, $500 billion in new taxes, and $2.5 trillion in new spending, and most Americans oppose it. “He’s calling on us to ignore the wishes of the American people," Senator McConnell added.

At issue is not just the policies the White House wants to move through the Congress but how it plans to do it. House and Senate Democrats now say they will move healthcare reform through a controversial process called reconciliation, which requires only a majority vote instead of the 60 votes now typical in the highly polarized Senate.

1. Great strategy, Mr. Chinless. Campaign to take something from people.
That should work just great!

3. Bush Passes A Deficit Busting Drug Program With No Funding
...and Republicans and many blue dog Democrats say nothing. Yet, when President Obama pushes a fiscally responsible bill that has a good chance of passage, the Republicans are up in arms about the tyranny of a majority vote. Sadly, the media is not doing a great job of exposing the Republican lies about their use of reconciliation.

2. They rage because they're going to lose and they know it
And thanks to enactment of reform, no matter how incomplete or half-assed, some people are going to benefit, and this may turn out to be the first halting step on the way to single payer. That will screw over the Republicans for 25 years, at least.

4. Passage of this bill along with a public option
will be the start of a medicare for all system which will keep the GOP/right wing out of power for 30 years.

5. So, if they think the passage will cost the Dems in the elections-why are they against it? Idiots.

6. Pretty concerned about dems losing seats aren't they?
They must be scared shitless to float that kind of spin.
