Poll question: Obama vs. AFL-CIO
from: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=7839057&mesg_id=7839057

"The national AFL-CIO has condemned the firing of all teachers and support staff at the high school in one of Rhode Island's poorest communities.

The labor organization's executive council, in a unanimous resolution, also said it was "appalled" by support from the Obama administration for the Central Falls school board, the Providence Journal reported. Both President Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan have backed the firings."

Who's right here?

3. Appalling
What makes the school administrators think that anyone they
hire will do a better job teaching students who may not get
enough to eat, or enough sleep, or harassed or beaten on a
regular basis? Students whose home environment isn't
conducive to their security and peace of mind, let alone doing
homework. Students who are expected to learn in an
undoubtedly dilapidated old building, with inadequate books
and a more or less complete lack of adequate teaching aids,
such as computers.

I live in LA where we have the LA Unified School District,
which is larger than the city. A week or so ago, the LAUSD
president, I think, said that he was planning to turn over
about 30 of the worst schools in the district to, in effect,
private contractors. Nothing was said about what would happen
to their staffs.

Obama is now spitting on the second hand that feeds him.
First the progressives, his supposed base, whom he has
betrayed at every turn. Now the unions, who turned out in
force to get him elected. How do we get him fired?

4. Exactly Son of Wendigo.
Thank you for the report from LAUSD. The media has been incredibly hostile about the schools there lately, I figured a charter school roll-out was in the offing. :(
