$5 Fee to Overthrow the Government

March 03, 2010

$5 Fee to Overthrow the Government

"Since 1951, South Carolina has had a law on its books requiring anyone looking to overthrow the government to, well, register with the government," CBS News reports. "No one had actually registered until February, when news of the law's existence spread on the internet and talk radio."

The form to register as a "subversive agent" asks those interested to list the "name of subversive organization" as well as the name and address of its "chief agent."

The key question: "Do you or your organization directly or indirectly advocate, advise, teach or practice the duty or necessity of controlling, seizing or overthrowing the government of the United States, the state of South Carolina or any political division thereof?"

If the answer is "yes," you'll need to submit a completed form to the South Carolina Secretary of State's Office -- along with a $5 filing fee.

2. The language of the law also includes "change" the government and "political parties."
So now to legally vote in SC without being arrested. You must be a registered voter and registered subversive.

3. Does this mean you want to succeed or secede?....
