I got a call yesterday from the "Democrat" National Committee. 818-591-8391
I questioned him about "the Democrat" National Committee and he said yes, that is where he was calling from. He then went on to badger me about giving a donation, even after I told him that I am currently unemployed. I finally had to hang up on him.

This morning I did a reverse phone lookup to see where this a-hole was calling from and found out it was from a telemarketer called M Harris in California. I looked them up on whocalled.us and saw lots of complaints. This company does fundraising for lots of charities and has many complaints. I then called the DNC in Washington. They told me that the call was legitimate and that M. Harris does do fundraising for them. I told them that they should check out the complaints on whocalled.us and also tell them they should instruct M. Harris to stop saying they are calling from the "Democrat" National Committee if they actually want Democrats to donate!

2. Excellent work -- if this is how we're raising money, we're in serious trouble.
Is anyone in charge at the DNC?

3. Looks like this place has pretended to be other organizations as well
I Googled the number and there are several complaints about this number posing as the World Wildlife Fund and Doctors Without Borders.

4. The DNC folks told me that this company is a legitimate company that
they do use for fundraising. Not the best choice, if you ask me. :eyes:

6. Not very smart at all
The DNC ought to be more selective about who makes calls for them.

5. I just got a dummy calling for the DCCC this morning
I don't know if he was a volunteer or paid telemarketer.

I do make donations to the DSCC and DCCC (and rarely, to the DNC) ... but I will not make a pledge on the telephone. It's a rule mr. frazzled and I adopted more than a decade ago, whether it's a political fundraising call or for the symphony or another charity. We just get too many of them, and the pressure is too high. I'll go online to donate of my own volition, or I'll respond to a mail or email request. But I simply won't make a pledge on the telephone.

I'm thinking of asking all the political groups to put me on their no-call lists. Not sure if that works for nonprofits.

8. At least you had a number to look up. I got one the other night from "private number"
Asking me to donate to some general democratic campaign fund.
I told her 1) I'm only giving directly to candidates this year, and 2) I wouldn't ever consider donating to ANYone for ANYthing whose number is blocked on caller ID.

13. Is it so much harder to call it Democratic?
Do they even realize any longer that it is a slur to call it the Democrat Party?

14. I had a call from the DSCC last night.
(I can't read the caller ID anymore -- the display on the phone is ka-put but otherwise the phone works so I'm not replacing it. No one uses my landline anyway except my neighbor and telemarketers.)

In response to the call, I told the guy no, I wasn't donating because I'm so pissed off about Obama's outrageous remarks about the wholesale firing of the RI teachers and his attempts to weaken the union at GM. I also told him that if the Dems wanted to continue to have the support of Labor they'd better get a clue and that I was seriously considering changing my party affiliation.

The more they hear no from those who've given in the past, well, nah, they probably won't listen to us because we're "retarded." Fuck you Rahm.

Another thought -- The DNC hires fundraisers to make the calls -- how long before they outsource these to India?
