1. wish I was smart enough to understand what this says... |
|
Is it saying that during the Bush years, we were the "Party of No" and the republicans resorted to reconciliation on a regular basis?

4. I believe it means that the repukes were more than willing to use reconciliation to |

get things done when it served THEIR purpose.
It was not so "nuclear" when THEY wanted to use it..
The party in the majority is the one who usually has control of what bills get voted on..so when the repukes were in charge, they were the ones submitting bills that THEY would vote for. In order to prevent the Dems from filibustering the bills they used the nuclear option..reconciliation...only then it was ok...cause THEY did it.

5. and they used it twice when they had a majority of Dem votes too |

I thought that was odd, but whatever.
on edit: The Democrats did this too in 2007, but I don't recall hearing the GOP complain about it then.

Perhaps a very vocal minority among the Dems threatened filibuster.

So it seems the repubs 'rammed bills down the throats of the people' many, many times and mostly to give tax breaks to the richest.
Recommended.

9. yep, rammed bills through that led to the growing deficit |
|
but since a Democrat is in the WH, the deficit suddenly matters again. Funny how that happens, isn't it? :eyes:
