CoffeePartyUSA = GOP Front Group
This Coffee Party sham is nothing more than yet another shadow GOP ''grassroots'' group, manufactored out of whole cloth to show, via the corporate media, how upset all the 'liberals' are at the Obama administration.

It's all for show, folks.

Their webpage says very little about what their agenda is... but if you wander over to their Facebook disscussion forum (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/coffeeparty ), their right-wing agenda is QUITE clear.

This group is NOT a liberal response to the Tea-Baggers.

The Coffee Party is, instead, a place for ''moderate'' Republicans to protest the Obama administration without having to stand next to the right-wing ''people'' who belong to the Tea Party.

If you've got anything nice to say about the Democrats, or the President, you're not welcome. If you've got any criticism of the GOP - to even include the dirt-bag Tea Partiers, you're not welcome.

The group's entire intent is to break DC gridlock by AGREEING with the Tea Party.

They actively seek to march ALONGSIDE THEM.

Confrontation is to be avoided, while consensus is encouraged, i.e., The Coffee Party is only a kindly-gentler version of the Tea Party.

The only conclusion I can make, is that some ad agents have gotten some of the GOP's money pie, and are trying to put a new face on the Tea-Baggers, to get some ''moderate'' Republicans elected into some solid blue states Congressional seats.

Let's face it, the Tea Baggers can;t grow much more than they have.

This is where they are expanding.

DO NOT HELP FINANCE THIS GROUP... they will use your money to sponsor media ads that claim that even liberals are protesting the 'socilaist' agenda.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GROUP... not unless you like arguing with right-wingers, that is.

I'm sticking around for a while just to warn unsuspecting patriots who pass through thinking that the Coffee Party is a LIBERAL alternative to the Tea-Baggers. It is an alternative to them... a more 'polite' right-wing protest group, and that is all.

1. Thanks.
I've been holding off joining any of the coffee party invites I've gotten on Facebook. Now I see I was right to do so.

4. Someone on FB sent me a message about this yesterday
The girl who started it was active on the Obama campaign and is still in OFA.

This sounds like another fake grassroots group to me. Just because they claim to be liberal hasn't convinced me to trust their agenda.

8. That seems to be how the OP's post reads to me
They actually want to seek common ground with moderates from all sides and discuss these issues in a forum free from partisan rancor. So obviously they're a GOP front group. *rolls eyes*

6. You mean.....
The same "Coffee Party" that is getting flamed by the Right Wing because its founder *gasp* actually volunteered for Obama (and other Democrats) campaigns and is therefore a "Obama Campaign Operative"?

The same "Coffee Party" that's being called "astro-turf" by the same tea baggers being bankrolled by Dick Armey and Freedom Works??

Go figure.

It was founded by a Democrat. Most of the members so far (myself included) are Democrats.

And I certainly can't find anything in that link to back up your claim it's a GOP front group. Yeah, they "gasp" let moderate Republicans comment on that Facebook page, but since all the moderate Republicans I know voted for Obama in the 2008 election, I don't see this as a bad thing.

See, here's the deep dark secret of the Tea Party that Freedom Works and their GOP backers don't want people to know. There's a lot of concerns about this country - the destruction of the middle class, the loss of US industry, the erosion of civil rights, the rise of corporate "personhood" - that affect all Americans of all political stripes. And before the tea baggers were co-opted and turned into an anti-Obama hate group, the sane ones were concerned about these things, and wanted people from all sides to discuss it.

And they still feel that way. So maybe the Coffee Party will succeed where the Tea Party failed and allowed themselves to be corrupted into a base for far right nutters. Because these problems are still there, and they're going to need the sane ones from all parties to solve them.

9. Well, considering that it was founded by an Obama campaign volunteer, I doubt it.
Pay no heed to their discussion boards right now. The TeaBaggers are pissed about the whole Coffee Party thing, and 90% of the people on that board right now are TeaBagger trolls trying to destroy it.

The Coffee Party isn't anti-Obama, it's anti-corporatist. They aren't a "left wing" group OR a "right wing" group, but are a middle of the road group trying to counter corporate dominance in Washington.

I have no problem with the idea, but I think it's laughable that they think they can accomplish anything. A hundred thousand people on Facebook isn't much of a force, and if they're not willing to protest, they're going to get ignored.

11. This is kinda dumb..
considering the founder of the Coffee Party, Annabel Park, has probably done more to help elect Obama and Democrats than 99% of the people on this forum.

13. I don't think a GOP-affiliated group would use a quote from MLK . . .
. . . on its Facebook page.

So, nope, I'm not buying your theory.
