Thank you, anonymous heart donor family!
Edited on Thu Mar-04-10 04:08 PM by Patiod
Thank you to the family of the anonymous donor who provided my cousin with a heart transplant this morning.

I am deeply sorry for that family's grief, but hope they're finding some small comfort in knowing that their loved one's death in his late 30's has given another young man (early 40s) a chance at a more-normal life.

Today I love New Yorkers - it was some New York city family who stepped up and did something this good when they were suffering themselves.

(The heart did go to a Boston-area recipient, but if they ever find that out, I hope someone tells them - the truth - he is a life-long Phillies fan...)

1. Good news, Patiod. Good vibes to your cousing, and
to the family that opened their hearts for you despite their grief.

2. Tissue and organ donation are terrific things.
Congratulations to your cousin! She will have a wonderful new life to look forward to thanks to this gift from a stranger. My own Mom received corneal transplants may years ago due to corneal disease. After they took the bandages off she got her first good look at my face in 10 years. :)

I cannot recommend enough that people fill out their organ donor cards AND let their families know about their wishes.

Thanks for sharing such wonderful news! :hi:
