Nixon is still kicking us around
From the unprovoked invasion of Cambodia, to the War on Drugs, to petty partisan politics, to China sucking away our industry, to the rise of the medical insurance cartels, to deregulation, the GOP Southern Strategy, to disgracing the office of the Presidency-and the Government in general-through the belief in the Unitary Executive...

Sound familiar?

If it weren't for Nixon, there would be no Reagan to declare, "Government is the Problem." There would be no Cheney and Rove and Rumsfeld who destroyed the evidence of their crimes, because the first time around in the Nixon White House, they learned what NOT to do. Like a virus that is beaten once but then comes back immune, the crimes of Nixon were unprecedented-yet they were not only matched by his successors, Reagan and the Bush Crime Family, they were SURPASSED.

There would also be none of China sucking away our American industry if it weren't for Nixon opening the door. No War on Drugs, no Kaiser for-profit medical corporations and insurance companies, etc.

Also, Nixon began the the first major deregulation efforts in the U.S., with the beginning being the transportation industry.

A LARGE amount of our current political, economic, and social culture can be traced back to Tricky Dick. We won't have Nixon to kick us around anymore, but his legacy will kick us around for a long, long time.

5. By today's standards Nixon was quite a 'liberal'
You need to Google things like OSHA, guaranteed minimum income, Aid to Dependent Families...

6. I get that, but I think you're missing my point
Nixon, while liberal for by today's standards, was not very liberal at all compared to, say, George McGovern. He transformed our political culture and the partisanship of it for the worse.

At the end of the day, Nixon had no real ideology other than to get even with anyone he considered his enemy.

3. Let us not forget what the Nixon Admin did to American Agriculture
The whole reliance we have on Corn, subsequent obesity and diabetes increase and the decline of small farms, can be traced to the Nixon Administration and Earl "Loose Shoes" Butz.......
