On A Scale Of 1 To 10... How Do You Feel About Our Democratic Leaders At This Point In Time ??? |
|
President, Senate, and House combined.
With 10 being absolutely frustrated, disillusioned, pissed, distraught...
And 1 being blissfully serene with confidence in their actions.
Me... I'm at about a 9.5 at the moment.
And while I was hugely surprised at Pete Stark getting Ways and Means, it looked like a total fiasco to put him there, and then take him back out less than 24 hours later.
What the hell were they thinking???
I swear Michael Moore is correct. With a few significant exceptions... a bunch of disgusting wusses.

12. I'll let you know when we see what sort of a health insurance reform bill |
|
gets sent to Obama to sign. At that point, I'll be able to judge performance as a whole. Until then, it's all just rumor.
While the conservatives, blue dogs, DLC, and Wall Street Democrats rate a 10, my own state has produced Democrats that rate from a 1 to a 4.

They're little more than corporate lobbyists.
I think there are a fair number in the House that are respectable and trying to serve their actual constituencies' interests.

I was at 9 before President Obama said he was open to reconciliation. I'll do final judgment when we see how far the Party goes to improve any bill we pass. Because with the majorities in both Houses and the Presidency, we should do a LOT better than a health bill with mandates and no public option.

Would be closer to a 5 if Obama would finally wake up and see that he is not being well served by those he has appointed to key staff positions.
Would be closer to a 2 if the Democratic leadership in the Senate grew a pair.

I've never been this discouraged with the Democratic Party. Ever. In more than 4 decades of uniform, active support. I no longer have the confidence that they can fend off any Republican initiatives. And they can kiss my money and my work efforts and my showing up to vote good-bye unless something changes for the better in a big Goddamned hurry.......

The "accomplishments" are what I expect and demand from normal run of the mill Democrats. They have done nothing earth shattering yet. Health care? Miserable failure. DADT? For fucks sake, sign an executive order ending it. You are the President right? Job creation? Not aggressive enough. They succeed at being NORMAL RUN OF THE MILL DEMOCRATS, but fail miserably as agents of change.
