Things Are Trending Well For Ds - How Much Credit Does Obama Get?
Health care looked to be dead a few weeks ago. Now, it looks like it will not only pass, but that a PO might just be included in the fix of reconciliation.

So, I've gotta ask: is there any chance that this has evolved the way it has because Obama and his strategists wanted and expected it to evolve this way? Is it possible that his supposed hands off attitude was all a political front to lull the Rs into a sense of victory, only to have the rug pulled out from under them at this late date?

I'm thinking that nothing happens by accident in DC. I'm thinking that this whole slow burn strategy was devised from the get go to allow DC politicos to go through their usual moments, to rant their inevitable rants, and to posture their political postures in a classic rope-a-dope gambit.

Whaddaya think?

2. I believe that you and many other people on this board are right.
I think it was by design that he let the opposition run it's course, and only then he stepped in close this deal.

Our half-hearted allies are finding out what our adversaries are incapable of learning, President Obama is smart, and knows how this game is played.

4. Some don't like Obama no matter what overall good he does, they cut their noses off to spite...
...their faces and then wonder what you're staring at.

6. I don't understand the "hands off" stuff.
He has been pushing it very aggressively and actively.

Obama has been letting Republicans tie their own noose. Just like he did to McCain and Hillary in the election.

7. Exactly.
I keep telling everyone that whoever underestimates our Prez does so at their own risk.

There's a reason VP Biden keeps saying he has a spine made of steel. And, he's still the smartest person in the room...

8. How much credit? Here?
Start with "not much" and proceed directly to "none".

We're all about excoriation here. Credit? We don't need no stinkin' credit...

9. I think you are mistaken ...
I could be rude and take a cheap shot at you, but that is the way things have been going around here and enough is enough. Instead let me tell you that Obama has not played it straight from the beginning. He has lied to us, tried to manipulate us and denigrated us for wanting what he promised to do but has failed to do.

Sometimes things are exactly as they appear no matter how much you want them to be better. He sold us out. He sold you out and he sold me out. Wake up and smell the coffee before you no longer know what is real and what is not.

What is the point of trying to contort your logic into a metaphorical pretzel to try and protect the man who is letting you down to make him seem like he is the person you wanted him to be. He never was that person. He never will be. You need to take a step back, a deep breath and think about all this. This isn't even health care reform. It is a give away to the insurance companies at our expense. Nothing more. That was the only strategy and the only plan. They prosper and we die.

Nothing you can imagine is going to change it. You'll be happier if you stop going on zebra hunts and live in the real world.
