The "keep America afraid" propaganda campaign
demonstrates the ideological sickness of the unitary executive theory:

Torture is an effective interrogation method that should be celebrated by the public. We know torture is effective because Bush and Cheney said so. Who cares if their claims are soundly refuted? That doesn't matter. Perception trumps reality.

Anyone who supports investigations into torture should be considered a terrorist sympathizer. The Executive Branch is infallible.

There is no need for legal process. Citizens should understand that when the POTUS says someone is a dangerous terrorist then the issue is settled. Having a court make such a determination is a terrible, extremely risky (the judge could be an al Qaeda sympathizer) thing to do.

This is sick stuff.

3. If the US committed war crimes then that blows the whole good guys
who spread democracy and protect human rights portion of the shared myth...

...and, really, do you want to be the one that shatters those illusions?

if you need a tag...

4. "This is sick stuff." Yet so many of us fall for it. Does this mean
that not only the Neocon leadership has too many sick people --
there are too many sick ones among the general population, too?

5. Spiritually sick, perhaps...collectively, which is unavoidable in a densely propagandized climate
Not enough questioning the perceived consensus reality
