1. Yes. But it'll never happen.
Meet The Press isn't about spreading the truth. It's about dissemination of the talking points.

2. My Question is
is that gig really a better use of her talents? It's a very constrained format and while it influential, it doesn't get all that large an audience.

Could she do Meet the Press as well as her MSNBC show? That might be worth considering, if she's up for it.

3. Uh, more people watch Press the Meat than her show every night
as a matter of fact I think it's more tan her combined weekly viewing audience.

4. no Conservative would ever go on the show again, she would destroy them
MTP needs to go back to having a panel of moderators

David is not bright at all and shouldn't be trusted with that show

Nobody at NBC can host that show alone

7. Rachel does not destroy anyone. She allows them to point out their own failures.
Edited on Fri Mar-05-10 10:41 AM by ThomWV
Picture, in your mind, a bridge collapse. At the moment of collapse a single car is crossing and the car falls into the river and the driver is crushed and drowns. The bidge did not collapse because that car drove over it, that bridge failed long before the car arrived, the car was just the last event in the failure.

When Rachel interviews people she doesn't destroy them. They failed long before she arrived, she is just sometimes the last car over the bridge, the final precipitating event, before we see the collapse.

That is when I hang out with my nieces and baby nephew. Sorry but playing with baby is so much better than watching tv :)

9. No...
We need Rachel's progressive voice; as MTP moderator she would take that role seriously and be unbiased, as opposed to the previous and current hosts. I prefer her in the role she has now, as the watchdog who attacks the bad guys...she is amazing at not only uncovering the truth but conveying it.

12. I agree
As a moderator she could not comment on her guests after the show to point out errors etc... It would certainly hurt her night time show.

10. What she needs is a larger audience, where she is
She needs to become bigger than Meet the Press and a regular household name..America would benefit...She needs to be written up in Time, Newsweek, Washing Post, New York Times, etc. etc.

18. "Down the middle" just means somewhere to the right of center. How about Neutral
They are not the same thing, 'down the middle' and 'neutral'.

16. That would be a convenient hole in which the MSM could disappear her.
If we must have a failpile like MTP on the air, intelligent and ethical moderation could help, I suppose--but would the Powers That Be still be stacking the deck with right-wing apologists for guests?

I think I like her right where she is.

17. Other: Never heard of her.
Not really. "Never heard her" is accurate, and will remain so.

Also should add: Have never watched "Meet the Press," and probably never will.

So install whoever you like as moderator. ;)

23. She'd never convince the studio heads that she's really a rightwing shill feigning neutrality.

Gregory isn't nearly as good at it as Russert was - but they had to go with what they had, I guess.
