Officials say the ranks of the state’s unemployed has increased by 126,000 in the past 12 months, from 515,000 in January 2009. This year’s January jobless rate was up more than two percentage points from 8.6 percent a year ago.

Ohio unemployment has backed off last July’s high of 11.2 percent, the steepest level in about 26 years.

3. Exactly! I wonder what the thought is behind this un-rec idea - I think it should come up for vote!
I would vote NO - Has there been a poll that anyone knows about here on DU about this policy?

6. wait wait -- didn't you guys hear -- it's getting BETTER in the economy!
Y'all didn't see the wave of postings about how much *better* things were getting?? And yes, I need a :sarcasm: thingie here.

My area north of Atlanta is starting to look like a ghost town, with empty strip malls everywhere. What we can't figure out though -- there are still pockets of construction of NEW strip malls going up -- WHY? And HOW did these people get funding and approval to build these things, with street after street of empty real estate?
