McCormick & Company Initiates Recall Due to Possible Health Risk from HVP Ingredient

SPARKS, Md., Mar 05, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- McCormick & Company, Incorporated is initiating a recall of products manufactured with HVP (hydrolyzed vegetable protein) supplied by Basic Food Flavors of Las Vegas, Nevada, because the ingredient has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

"Consumption of products containing Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms) endocarditis and arthritis."

To date, no illnesses have been associated with these McCormick products. For updated information, go to the CDC and FDA websites.

Recalled products were distributed nationwide and sold in retail stores. Two of the recalled products were also distributed for sale in international markets. The following products are being recalled.

1. Vaccines are 100% safe. ALWAYS. Saying otherwise makes you a very bad person.
We must trust the billion dollar for-profit drug companies in all that they do with vaccines. Even when they demand and get laws giving them special protection from product liability lawsuits.

If you draw attention to problems with vaccines you want little babies to die from Small Pox.

Get with the program!

:sarcasm:

3. It's not about Vaccines, though. It's Hydrolized Vegetable Protein food additive.
But, I understand where you are coming from, though, with these "mandated, untested for proper time," vaccines that are being pushed all the time. ;-)

I use both the Onion Soup and Veggie Dip listed in the recall. Gotta go check my cabinet for the dates and lot #.
