Wolf Blitzer apologizes for 'Department of Jihad' graphic
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/05/wolf-blitzer-apologizes-f_n_488257.html

CNN's Wolf Blitzer has apologized for using chyron text that seemed to question the loyalties of the Department of Justice.

On Thursday, CNN broadcast text that read "HAPPENING NOW, DEPARTMENT OF JIHAD?" and "Are Justice Department Lawyers Disloyal?" as part of its coverage of an ad by Liz Cheney that suggests that because the DOJ hired lawyers who have represented accused terrorists, the department is sympathetic to terrorists.

On Friday, Blitzer apologized for the graphic and called DOJ lawyers "patriotic."

"CNN had no intention of suggesting that the Justice Department supports terrorism. Lawyers at the Justice Department are patriotic Americans and we certainly regret any confusion that may have been caused by our graphic."

4. Yeah right, Wolf...like that was all just a collective brain fart!
Dude must be really pissed that he hasn't been able to report on "Operation Wham, Bam, Thanks Imam!", or whatever the Pentagon would call the bombing of Tehran.

7. Sorry, not buyin' it
This report didn't "just happen." It was put together with an idea behind it and an axe to grind. The chyron was just the cherry on a shit sundae of a report. Blitzer wouldn't have dared to do that during the Bush administration.

14. Leslie Blitzer is a frickin' moron and CNN is the "crack" cocaine of distraction & propaganda
Quite simply, 98% of television/cable news is a grotesque carnival freak show of nonsense. Leslie Blitzer is merely an obscenely paid carnival barker.

18. Credit Senator Al Franken
He invented the entire JOKE that Wolf's name is "Leslie" at a WH Correspondents Dinner back in the early 90's. Blitzer is a scumbag, but his real name is Wolf (short for Wolfgang).

Cracks me up how this joke has become some sort of gospel at DU, but why am I not surprised?

17. The problem isn't a silly headline, Blitzer... Christ.
Edited on Sat Mar-06-10 02:14 AM by Marr
It's the fact that they are so anxious to let the far right frame the debate. Who *cares* what the Cheneys say? It is not relevant. Dick Cheney is a former VP, for Christ sake, and a private citizen.

Can you imagine Al Gore being allowed to frame every debate and dominate the news cycle with a little press release? It's absurd.
