2. it doesn't really answer my question
not that I actually comprehend it anyway

guess I will leave it alone - plenty of explanations for disabling, no real REASONS for doing so or not!

3. Here's what it's supposed to do.
If and when you go to a web page that has Java components (some animations, some online apps like calculators and graph plotters) the page will load faster because the plugin will have already loaded part of the Java code into memory beforehand.

5. In my computers, I can't really tell the difference either way.
Theoretically, it takes a bit longer to fire up your browser in the first place, but continued use should be unaffected.
