A sad day for my district, NC 5th, home of the batshit crazy Virginia Foxx
BOONE, N.C. --

On Thursday, March 4, 5th District Congresswoman Virginia Foxx was one of just 13 House members to vote against H RES 362, a bill "Expressing the support of the House of Representatives for the goals and ideals of the National School Lunch Program."

Billy Kennedy, Candidate for Congress in the 5th District, issued the following statement:

What a sad day for North Carolina’s 5th Congressional district. If you can’t say “yes” to the “goals” of America’s national school lunch program, then what the heck can you say “yes” to? America’s national lunch program provides a mid day meal to over 30 million school kids every day and snacks for children in after-school programs. The School Lunch Program operates in public schools, non-profit private schools, and some child care facilities. Its goal is to provide “nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches.”

1-in-7 children in North Carolina lives in a household that is forced to reduce food intake, alter normal eating patterns, or go hungry because they lack the money or resources to obtain adequate food. More than 800,000 NC school children take part in the National School Lunch Program each day. In 2007, even before the current recession hit, 7 out of 10 children in Alleghany County participated in the school lunch program. Almost that many children got free or reduced lunches in Surry, Wilkes and Ashe counties, and more than half the children in Yadkin and Forsyth counties participated.

What was Rep. Foxx thinking? Maybe she was still mulling over the words of Rush Limbaugh who said just this February about our national school lunch program: "It never occurs to the parents to go to the grocery store?" I doubt Rush Limbaugh has ever gone hungry, and it looks like Rep. Foxx isn’t having any trouble finding her next meal either. In fact, maybe she should get out of the Washington House members’ Longworth cafeteria a little more often, where on Tuesdays she can dine on Wild Mushroom, Cheese Stuffed Ravioli at a discount and where the coffee comes from Pura Vida.

At least that’s what the “United States House of Representatives Dining Service Website” says.

4. Rec'ing for the rolling eyeball alone
not to mention the horrible story about her.

How anyone can thrive on such a petty mean spirit is beyond me.

15. Another problem, besides too many voters wanting to remain willfully ignorant and obstinate
about untrue spoonfed lies, is that she has coffers filled to the brim with private money and ill gotten money.
It matters.
The lack of money is the root of much evil.

She also dodges debates.

9. Many of my neighbors, many many LTE writers,
Edited on Sat Mar-06-10 12:52 PM by Mira
Many of the gun toting, racism hiding, tobacco juice spitting, proud to see her stand up for the Lord's principles lovin' folk around me when I come out my front door.

One would think that it is too obvious for words that she will not be re-elected yet again.
Unfortunately I would not bet on it. She is actually a scared little ugly rabbit of a person. When the chair of the Dems approached her to shake her hand as she introduced herself, (I witnessed this), she backed away so harshly the only thing that prevented her from falling off the podium she on was one of the Vets in the photo.

She does have an opponent in the Republican primary.

She also has a great Democratic opponent in Billy Kennedy. Throw him some love:

17. Has she been carrying on with Andre Bauer behind our backs?
the Lt. Gov. from neighboring SC who infamously compared school lunches to feeding stray animals (!!).

18. Inglorious bastard. He said:
…My grandmother was not a highly educated woman but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed! You’re facilitating the problem. If you give an animal or person ample food supply they’ll reproduce. Especially one that don’t think too much further than that and so what you got to do is curtail that type of behavior. They don’t know any better.]/b]

They are not, I repeat, not, carrying on. There is another kind of breeding, and they are not capable or possessing of either.

19. She's gotta go.
Spoon up some of her own favorite dish and feed it to her; start asking, loudly and publicly and as often as possible, "Why does Virginia Foxx hate children?" Our erstwhile rep voted against kids when she voted against S-chip and it helped us to FINALLY unseat the witch.

My condolences on your having such a diseased organism as your rep. Ick.
