Obama calls again for an "up-or-down vote" on health care
President Obama on Saturday repeated his call for Congress to give an "up-or-down vote" on his plan to revamp the nation's health-care system, saying that doing so would yield immediate benefits for the uninsured and small businesses, while prohibiting the most unpopular actions of health insurance companies.

Speaking in his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama said that his plan would give families and businesses more control over their health care by providing tax credits for small firms that purchase coverage and allowing people with pre-existing conditions to more easily buy insurance.

Obama has called on Congress to vote on the long-debated plan in the coming weeks. His Press Secretary Gibbs said he thinks the House is on track to approve the Senate-passed health bill by March 18, though action on a "reconciliation" bill to make adjustments to the Senate-approved bill could take longer.
