A major win for Obama. Gadahn is directly linked to bin laden and alzawahiri.

6. I always thought he was... interesting. a person of interest
probably because I'm so cynical, but I always thought he must have been a plant. No doubt he had to kill people to show he was on the side of the jihadists in return for inside information.

but maybe he's just an ordinary sick fuck.

13. He's just another extremist
His views warped when he was still very young and I am glad they caught him. I do feel for his parents though, in some strange way.

8. AP reporting that Yahya was one alias used by Gadahn -
The 31-year-old is known by various aliases including Yahya Majadin Adams and Azzam al-Amriki.

22. I have seen both names mentioned.
It isn't for sure who is in custody. It was either Adam Gadahn, Abu Yahya al-libi or both.

al-libi would be more significant, Gadahn perhaps more symbolic. There are reports that Gadahn was never fully trusted to AQ, and may have been served up.

12. Gadahn, hands down, is the WEIRDEST member of Al Queda. Period.
If anyone reads this and doesn't know about him, Wiki him at least. He's right up there with some of the characters associated with the Kennedy Assassination.

I'm sure you can find it other places (C-Span?) but CNN's got a link to it right now. Just showing a live shot of the podium at the moment.

18. Gadahn grew up on a goat farm
He was captured it appears a few days ago and is being "interrogated," by Pakistani intelligence. BTW has anyone else read the bio for this guy? NNOHLI linked it in another thread, really interesting. Another home-grown version of those evil-doers. Let's see which anti-terrorism policy stopped this guy from blooming. One thing about this report is that they interviewed Dawud Walid. Isn't he famous for previous quotes?

Officers: Pakistan arrests American-born al-Qaida
Sunday, March 07, 2010
By ASHRAF KHAN
Associated Press Writer

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) The American-born spokesman for al-Qaida has been arrested by Pakistani intelligence officers in the southern city of Karachi, two officers and a government official said Sunday, the same day Adam Gadahn appeared in a video urging U.S. Muslims to attack their own country...

...Gadahn has appeared in more than half a dozen al-Qaida videos, taunting and threatening the West and calling for its destruction. A U.S. court charged Gadahn with treason in 2006, making him the first American to face such a charge in more than 50 years...

...The intelligence officials said Gadahn was being interrogated by Pakistani officials. Pakistani agents and those from the CIA work closely on some operations in Pakistan, but it was not clear if any Americans were involved in the operation or questioning...

...Appearing in 2006, in a 48-minute video along with al-Qaida's No. 2 leader, Ayman al-Zawahri, Gadahn called on his countrymen to convert to Islam and for U.S. soldiers to switch sides in the Iraq and Afghan wars..."

Why isn't there one way to spell AQ? In this article it is Al Qaida, on the terrorist wanted poster it is Al Qaeda:

Wait a minute, isn't that the guy that used to work at the record store?

Just my dos centavos
