St. Charles County may ban 'fake pot'

ST. CHARLES COUNTY — St. Charles County could be first in the area to outlaw so-called "fake pot."

A proposed bill would make it a misdemeanor to possess or sell any of a number of herb mixtures, such as K2, laced with chemicals that mimic the effects of marijuana.

Missouri state Rep. Ward Franz, R-West Plains, has sponsored similar legislation at the state level, but County Councilman Joe Brazil said a local law could be enacted more quickly.

"We're going to take it just as seriously as smoking marijuana," said Brazil, R-Defiance.

He said he decided to sponsor the bill because he is concerned the drug could impair drivers and is worried about its use by high school students.

3. Its absurd, but not the best analogy

The amount of alcohol in near bear is negligable.

This substance actually contains a cannabinoid. Now, whether that is dangerous or merits being banned is another leap in logic all together.
