We will not get health care reform until upwards of 60% of the population has none and the current health care system crashes and burns.
It's really that simple folks. Let's face it - the majority of this country consists of greedy asses who don't care about anyone but themselves. They also consists of morons who believe the health care insurance industry actually cares about them.
The good news is (depending on how you look at it) - the current system WILL likely crash and burn within the next 5 years when the 2nd great depression hits. At which time a Roosevelt like New Deal will have to come about to completely reform MANY broken systems including health care.
It's just that simple.

7. They don't have much of a recent history of substantial political action against the elite |
|
The US isn't like France. They are sort of surrender monkeys that put up the white flag if corporations balk.
I remember one time I was abroad watching the news in BC (where I live now), and on the news was a segments about striking unions who were sabotaging fiber optic lines and another story about union members who were shooting at scab big-rig trucks. I was like, 'wow, these people kick ass'.

2. Having 60% of the senate worked out well. |
|
Maybe 90% could have done the trick.
Maybe.........

8. Right, and if the dems in congress are having a hard time of it now what will be happening |
|
after the 2010 elections. I think this current administration and congress have set the dems back for a long time and that is sad. With a clear majority, things should have been smooth sailing.

10. They'll never have more than 60 again. |
|
They'll be lucky to hold a simple majority, given the current mood in this country.
Sorry to be so negative, but.....

11. I think you're absolutely right. I'm not negative either, but given the direction |

of this country, people are pretty unhappy, and they will take it out on the democrats. I'm very disappointed. I thought it was a new beginning. I feel like I've been riding on a roller coaster...

I would have thought that things are bad enough already, but apparently they arent. I can't figure out why, though.

5. I'm beginning to think 60% of the population will need to be on death's bed before |
|
the population wakes up. This is such a backward country. And there is just so much damn greed. It is not a country for for the majority of people IMO. Also, I VOTED FOR CHANGE, and here we are. The damn so called democrats in congress are just about our own worst enemy. And I thought Obama was going to be another FDR.

14. You must be thick as a brick. |

Every single person here against paying a mandate to for profit vultures would gladly pay into a public government pool to provide health care for all. And ahve stated so many times over
You're lying in order to accuse folks who want a canadian style system as being against a mandate is pathetic.

13. Yup, it's going to be pretty nasty. |

Those of us at the bottom are used to scraping by with nothing. Wait till the comparatively, mushy pampered middle class faces a few months or more of everyone living in one room or in the SUV.
They showed their true colors with this health insurance non reform, after allowing the ins. companies to kill tens of thousands every year for over two decades they settled for 23 million people left with nothing. Criminal negligence.
