Score one for women directors!
There aren't very many working (in Hollywood, at least).Somewhere around 10% I think.

The only ones who've ever been nominated are Jane Campion The Piano, and Sophia Coppola for Lost in Translation.

6. Nominated for Prince of Tides in 1991/ best picture.
She wasn't nominated for best director.

Silence of The Lambs won, with Jonathan Demme, it's director winning Best Director. Other directors... Barry Levinson for "Bugsy", Ridley Scott for "Thelma & Louise", John Singleton for "Boyz N the Hood", Oliver Stone for "JFK"
