To those who ask "what has Kucinich done?"
I'm not going to catalog his actions here. I just wanted to point out this:

Kucinich orders Afghan War vote: “Trillions for war, no money for Americans!”

http://eclipptv.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=89

So, tell me. What has YOUR congressman/senator done lately?

His raving fans fans like to ignore this.

http://www.nationalledger.com/ledgerdc/article_272630094.shtml

"...I met with people who were, you know, unfairly ridiculed as being just a bunch of teabaggers and frankly they had basic economic concerns just like everyone else, they felt that government wasn't listening to them, and this is where the Democratic Party better wake up," he told the radio audience."

Care to defend that?

I don't think Dennis Kucinich was looking for the support of a demagogic DLC loyalty flack, nor was he 'pandering to bigots' when he said that the teabaggers have economic concerns.

By your (fake outrage) reaction, He's practically the leader of the Tea Parties with that BOLD statement in praise of their bigoted signs!

They don't have economic concerns--they simply cannot and will not except that a proper white Christian man did not win the Presidency this time.

They pay LESS taxes under Obama--and they still do not give a fuck. That PROVES there are no economic concerns.

Haven't heard Franken taking charge and making waves, haven't you? Amy Klobuchar is not pushing progressive goals as much as I'd like. Betty McCollum is a staunch advocate for single payer and public option.

None are Kucinich. Nobody is Kucinich. That doesn't mean they aren't working hard. Time to broaden your focus a little, I think.

Not that it was all that bad. It's just that the last sentence of opprobrium was unnecessary.

Now, then (I don't want to take away from your two top choices, but...)

You have shown me that Franken and McCollum are TRYING. Making waves. Staunch advocate for public option. My point is that DK is doing the same things. In spades. So I merely asked the detractors to name a couple of congresspeople who had substantive results. Of course, voting to extend the Patriot Act isn't what I had in mind. (This is not directed at your examples. I would suspect that Franken, at least, would be opposed to that extension.)

As did every Democrat in the House except Barbara Lee. I think the vote was 420-1. But Barbara Lee only likes wars conducted by Africa's leaders against their own people.

Don't talk to me about overreactions. All we heard from 2006-2008 was about how justified the war in Afghanistan was and how the Iraq War diverted attention away from the true threat. Now that the United States military is actually attacking the true threat, people like you want to cut and run. The war is absolutely justified. 3000 Americans were murdered eight years ago.

32. I was never in favor of invading Afghanistan
And one of the problems with a lot of the current crop of Democrats is they went along with most everything Bush wanted. They didn't stand for Democratic principles when they were in the minority and they don't stand for Democratic principles now.

I will say at least you are consistent. Many I see here have pretzeled themselves into some rationale for being against the wars when Bush started them but for them now that Obama is conducting them.

You have no idea who "people like me" are and I don't appreciate the slam. I have every right to oppose this war. Just as you have every right to support it.

BTW, will you be supporting the upcoming invasion of Iran?

54. Pacifism is not a Democratic Party plank
Sure you have every right to oppose it. But most Americans would consider you to not have the best interests of this country in mind when doing so.

Regarding Iran, I'd like you to cite sources for your claim that an Iran invasion is "upcoming". Real sources okay, not the left-wing equivalents of WND. Mainstream media preferably.

But I'll answer your question as a hypothetical. I wouldn't support an invasion of Iraq. Despite the fact that Iran is run by an anti-semitic, Islamofascist nutcase, I've seen no concrete evidence to suggest that he would ever attack Israel. The self-hating Jewish Ahmedinejad knows that if he attacked his brothers in Israel without provocation, that Israel could wipe him off the map with their nukes. Thus, I don't see Iran attacking Israel in our lifetime.

58. Well, we have many Democrats who differ with parts of the platform
and this is one where I differ. Not sure I would say I'm a pacifist but I do think it's time to get out of Afghanistan. Reasonable people can and do disagree, here.

As to Iran, I do not know if we will be invading them but there has been a little more saber rattling than I'm comfortable with. I hope we don't. And I hope if we do, there will not be widespread Democratic support for it.

I don't think Iran will invade Israel and I hope we don't invade Iran.

52. okay. here you go
My Congresspeson is a first term Democrat (Gerry Connolly) elected to represent a district that, accounting for re-districting, has been represented by repubs for most of the past 50 plus years. Despite that fact, in his first year in office, Connolly has voted with the Democratic party position on bills and amendments more frequently than Kucinich (97 percent to 91 percent), introduced more bills than Kucinich (19 v.11) and introduced more amendments to bills than Kucinich (3 v. 0).

No Gerry doesn't run around labelling himself "America's Most Courageous Congressman" like that modest Mr. Kucinich, but in the long run, I'll take a Congressperson that represents his/her district faithfully and tries to get things done over one that grandstands so they can pat themselves on the back for their "courage".

As for my profile: I'm male and I live in Northern Virginia. Help?
