Former Missouri (GOP) House speaker agrees to testify before grand jury
Rod Jetton, a former Missouri House speaker, said he would appear this week before a federal grand jury investigating alleged pay-to-play schemes at the statehouse.

Jetton said he expected to testify Wednesday in Kansas City about his involvement with a 2005 bill that aimed to crack down on the adult entertainment industry, The Associated Press reported this weekend.

“When I first learned of this inquiry, I contacted the investigators and told them I would be happy to answer any questions about this issue,” Jetton said in a written statement to the AP. “I do plan on attending the grand jury.”

Jetton also told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he would waive his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination and answer all questions about the pornography bill.

Federal authorities are believed to be investigating Jetton’s actions involving the adult entertainment bill and a $35,000 campaign donation from a group of strip club owners to a fundraising committee with ties to a top adviser to Jetton.
