The Modern Political Rationale |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 12:05 AM by Writer
1. Totalistic thinking: There is only one solution to all problems.
2. Those who fall completely and wholly within that totality are the only worthy individuals; all other individuals are the "other," and therefore have no worth.
3. The only victory is the victory that completely falls within the totality I believe is right.
4. If there is a failure to achieve the victory I seek, it is not due to the unworkability of that totality within the political sphere, it's because of unseen corruption, and perhaps even conspiracy.
5. Mass cultural thinking: It is the elites who control the masses. However, I and my totality are immune to the same demagoguery that corrupts everyone else.
6. I refuse to see the world any other way.

1. Most people naturally think their way is best. |
|
I will admit that I am an idiot sometimes and am wrong too. I bet we would all be better off if we admitted then none of us are perfect.

7. it's easier to communicate to people this way--remember the mockery of Kerry for ''nuance''? |
|
The problem we are having now, is compromise being billed strictly as pragmatism when corruption is a more likely and better substantiated explanation.

8. naw, there are compromises that can be worked out. They just don't get added to our choices |
|
We are only given a few out of many options. This keeps us artificially fighting. Take HCR. There were other ways to approach the bill, but we are given a few choices while other choices are never given a chance.
