Now wackadoos can buy Survival Seeds for future "Crisis Gardens" ...

149 plus shipping for vac packed seeds that'll put tasty crops on a full acre.

They don't explain where your acre is, or how you'll defend it, though.

1. Or you could just go to eburgess.com and get them at a better price.
From a distributor who isn't using fear.

2. Speaking of which, anyone know of a cheap 3 season variety pack of seeds?
Edited on Tue Mar-09-10 06:10 PM by Oregone
I thought I saw a link sometime back. Something with a lot of different stuff in it at a good price?

I didn't have any cash to pick up anything at my local Seedy Saturday, so trying to find some other options

3. Maybe it's a good idea.
Wackadoos might benefit from a little more gardening and a few less gun shows. I encourage them to purchase heirloom seeds and go organic!

26. Judging from their seed list...
Most of them appear to be heirloom varieties. Got to give them some credit here--what they may be getting to survive are heirloom varieties that might otherwise be lost. Almost makes me wonder if this is just some kind of sales gimmick by an heirloom seed grower.

I encourage all gardeners to try heirlooms, not just the wackadoos. Brandywine and Cherokee Purple are two of the best tomato varieties EVER!!!

6. I'm planning on going underground and off the grid someday soon
and as far as defending my acreage, you'll never even find it. The cities are going to be a deathtrap and only those in "the country" are going to survive. Have you ever tried to buy groceries when a hurricane is coming or when there MIGHT be a storm with a power outage. "People" in large numbers scare me and I cant wait to be far away, just herding my llamas (or whatnot) and listening to the radio when gas hits $20 a gallon and food riots grip the major urban areas.

Oh, and those prices are insane, devised to separate the paranoid from his money.

9. Why is buying seeds an odd idea?
It's one aspect of being prepared.

That price is inflated, but there's nothing wrong with stocking seeds to plant.

23. It ain't the seeds, it's the paranoid, feed-the-fear marketing
I'm not even a gardener and I know enough to check what will grow well (or poorly) in my area, with the sort of climate and soil it has. Just about anyone who is serious about growing crops for food self-sufficiency will shop around for better prices and/or a selection best suited to their local conditions.

He's marketing to the "preparedness" equivalent of people who buy a home gym machine, work out with it once or twice, and then stick it in a corner or use it for an expensive clothes rack.

24. Sorry, I misinterpreted the OP headline.
It sounded as if the OP was classifying people who made preparations to start a garden in the event of an emergency as "wackadoos".

10. We plant veggies every spring - but we have Democratic plants, not
"crisis" gardens.

Republicans cause the crisis, blame the Democrats, make money off the paranoids.. GOP business practices.

19. What do you mean "now"?
Survival gear and supplies are (and have been) sold all over the place.
In fact, you can put together a year supply of food for $200-$400 depending on the kind of variety you want.

In fact, in the previous world wars "Victory Gardens" were common.

'You don't have to be an Old Testament prophet to see what's going on all around us. A belligerent lower class demanding handouts. A rapidly diminishing middle class crippled by police state bureaucracy. An aloof, ruling elite that has introduced us to an emerging totalitarianism which seeks control over every aspect of our lives.'

a belligerent lower class???? so all of these people who read this are middle class with jobs who live in gated communities??

a belligerent lower class=anyone not WHITE is how I read it. so much for compassion.
