I'm "lucky," I don't have TV. And I have satellite / limited bandwidth internet. Thus, the only way I can view the crazies is by dropping in to snippets. Which I did, as to Massa and Beck last night.

Alls I can say is: WHY DO PEOPLE WATCH THIS SCHLOCK? I mean, CLEARLY these people ARE CRAZY. Not to mention stupid, drooling, and despicable. (Along with Palin, Limbaugh, Cheney daughter, probably Rove, maybe even Roberts! Do we really believe his screw-up of the Presidential oath was a mistake? Esp. in light of the recent animus between him and the WH?).

It's so obvious - esp. when you don't see it all the time, as I don't. Is it the train wreck dynamic? I mean, they are not worth the time of day. We should be spending time on legitimate debates. I really feel for the serious politicians on BOTH sides, who have to deal with these distractions that have the staying power, and the eyeballs, that they do have.

4. Discernment

It's such a sad statement that people have lost their ability to discern hateful, destructive insanity from anything worth spending time on. Have people changed? Has the American character changed? Is it the effect of so much electronic media?

Obviously, we have been capable of horrors from the moment Europeans set foot here, but, this particular dysfunction - does it play to the same reptilian drives that other large-scale political manipulators play to? It seems to be in our DNA to tune into catastrophe, the "train-wreck gene." I suppose it ensures our survival.

We're due. You've got to wonder how Obama can hold his fire, sometimes. Although today in St. Charles, I felt he did let loose some. i enjoyed that.

I always recall during Clinton's (that'd be Bill) peccadillos....when "the transcripts" actually went online, and Lewinsky's skirt thong flip was there for all to read about...that's when the tide turned. I got the sense that when the public actually saw what Starr and his Republicans were going after, spending all that time and money and righteous indignation on, commonsense prevailed among the masses. I'm still waiting now (about Beck, et al.), and very relieved to read that you think the polarity is shifting! Thanks for the uplift!

29. It doesn't hurt to keep an eye on the oppostion -

for those who can stomach it. As I say, I don't have TV and low bandwidth net access, so I can only watch a couple minute clips every so often - and I far prefer to use up my bandwidth on Jon Stewart.

But when I want to cruise to the dark side I just listen to CNN on my Sirius Satellite radio. That's as much as I can take. I generally hang out on NPR, the lefty Sirius station, and POTUS. In fact, I got to hear all 7 hours (intermittently) of
Obama's health care summit UNINTERRUPTED on POTUS. They also have some liberal moderators.
