Minneapolis schools remain in lockdown after threat
by Elizabeth Dunbar, Minnesota Public Radio,
Brandt Williams, Minnesota Public Radio
March 10, 2010

St. Paul, Minn. — All schools in Minneapolis remain under lockdown as police investigate a phone call from someone who said a shooting was planned at a Minneapolis school.

The call didn't specify the school, so officials decided to limit access to all school buildings. School activities were taking place as usual inside the buildings.

School officials said there was no need for parents to go pick up their children.

Another threat was received in St. Paul concerning a shooting that would supposedly take place in or near Cretin-Derham Hall High School. That school was also closely monitoring people entering and exiting the school as police tried to find the source of that threat.

1. Probably a prank. When someone plans to use a gun at a school, they just use them.
That being said, they of course should take it seriously.

Guns are easy for kids to get, assuming it was a kid.

2. Oh, I hope it was a false threat
My kids went to school in Minneapolis, so here's a shout out to the faculty and kids at Hale and Field elementary schools and Southwest high school (oh, and Anthony Middle School, too: I kind of suppressed that one). Stay safe and get back to work soon.

3. How is a lockdown safer?
What if there is a fire? What if the shooter is locked in with everybody else?

7. It's not, and I'd be on my way to pick up my child.

5. Kids wanting a day off I think if anybody caught calling in a bomb
threat should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. But then at first when I read this I thought they were in lockdown because Bachmann threatened to visit.

6. It was probably Michelle Bachmann
just dialing a wrong number.
