Granny D Appreciation Thread
Campaign finance activist Doris Haddock, aka Granny D, died last night at her home in Dublin, NH at 100.

Granny walked across the country when she was 89 years old to draw attention to the need for campaign finance reform.

She was an inspiration to troublemakers, hellraisers, and fighters of the good fight everywhere. I'm going to miss her.

2. What a great life she lived. She will be missed.
I saw her speak in Austin about nine years ago. Inspired me to tears. I've always remembered one thing she said in particular. She was talking about always preparing, never giving up, and told how she had kept fighting for campaign finance reform even though no one was paying attention. Then after the Bush selection, the mood of the nation briefly changed, and the stuff she had been working on was suddenly popular, and some of it passed into law.

She said something like "Never quit fighting, even when your goals are unpopular or impossible, because one day the winds will change your way, and then you'll be the one ready to take advantage of it."

A beautiful soul. I've always been glad I got to see her in person. RIP, Doris. Your works and words were never in vain.

I donated to her campaign in 2004. She was a fantastic speaker and would have made a great Senator.

There will never be another Granny D. I can only hope that she will live on in all of us for whom she spoke. I think that's what she would have wanted.

11. Big shoes to fill.
I got to meet her at a book store. I admired her vibe.

I want to remember, so "that she will live on".
