Those bastards from the future have sabotaged the collider again.
The Large Hadron Collider is to shut down for a year to repair mistakes made in construction in the latest in a series of set backs to hit the atom smasher.

this is too good
While it is a shame for this thing to keep getting broken, the idea that the future is destroying this thing is too delicious. Art Bell, where are you?

3. Is there no way to stop these entities from the future coming back to ruin this project?
It must be nerve-racking to be involved with this project.

I mean, we used to try to escape our past, now we have to watch out for the future...

5. It's not being sabotaged from the future.
All of the many parallel universes where it operates correctly are destroyed as soon as it's turned on. So naturally we only ever find ourselves in one of the few universes where it has repeatedly broken down or been stopped in some other way.

(Before anyone jumps on me, I'm joking. As was the OP I'm sure.)

7. Ah, but wait...
article snip:

"In the meantime they will run the £5 billion accelerator at half power in the hope of making some discoveries before the shutdown, the latest in a number of unscheduled stoppages.

Even at this reduced level the Geneva-based machine is still running more than three times the previous record and could still discover the existence of dark matter."

Put that in your pipes and smoke it, interlopers from the Future! neener neener :P

Sure, they're running around everywhere all at once, but collapse to a single point when you look at them.

It's like they feel guilty about something.
