Rassmussen - "51% Say Congress is Too Liberal, 22% Say It’s Too Conservative"
I saw another OP expressing concern about President Obama's approval numbers by Rassmussen. Well, if we are going to rely on Rassmussen, then I guess we would also need to credit their poll numbers that a majority of Americans believe that Congress is too liberal. Yes, we are talking about the Congress in which Bart Stupak is willing to trash HCR in order as leverage to further restrict abortion, and in which a public option could not make it out of the Senate. Too liberal? Please.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/general_politics/august_2009/51_say_congress_is_too_liberal_22_say_it_s_too_conservative

Fifty-one percent (51%) of voters nationwide believe that Congress is too liberal while 22% hold the opposite view and say it is too conservative. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 14% say the ideological balance of Congress is about right and 12% are not sure.

Republicans overwhelmingly believe that Congress is too liberal, a view shared by 59% of those not affiliated with either major party.

A plurality of Democrats have a different view. Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Democrats say Congress is too conservative, 19% too liberal, and 26% about right.

Middle income earners are more likely than others to see Congress as too liberal. Among those who earn between $40,000 and $100,000 a year, 64% hold that view.

4. Telephone polls are over land lines. Cell phone users tend
to be younger. That can skew the polls.

5. The terms "conservative" and "liberal" don't mean crap anymore.
No offense, but these terms are meant to divide us.

6. I bet both numbers are reasonably close to the truth.
The American people do not think the way DUers do.

8. You have to understand that those polled were people
with a land line telephone. A large segment of those under 35 only have cell phones. That can skew results.

From 2008.
