Please contact Kucinich and tell him to vote for health care and here's why |
|
As soon as this health care bill is passed the amendments and other bills that will make it better are going to start. I've heard this from several people including, I think, Nancy Pelosi and it makes sense! Plus every day 202 people die because of our health care system and though that may seem a small number remember that we fought against every soldier that died in vain in Iraq and Afghanistan. EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS AND WORTH SAVING EVEN IF IT IS NOT AS MANY AS WE WOULD LIKE IT STILL MORE THAN ZERO.
Remember we are Democrats and that is what we believe.
At least do it for the woman on Ed Schultz's show whose son died because he couldn't afford a colonoscopy. That poor boy, (he was 27 ) suffered so much because they would only treat him when he started throwing up blood and fecal matter and then he could go to the emergency room. He died a long and painful death because it was too late for him
This is no time to be a patriot. This is a time to help the least among us.

2. wont all those benevolent amendments be squashed by fillibuster? |
|
this is a "trust me" moment and I frankly dont anymore. Have you ever heard the fable of the Scorpion and the Turtle?
"no time to be a patriot"? no, let's wait till there is a law on the books with mandates, then hope they do the right thing? "no time to be a patriot". Now's the best time to be a patriot.

4. With His Attitude He Will Never Be Effective |
|
Ed Kennedy was very effective because he work with other legislators and come up with an effective compromise. He was willing to get half a loaf, so it could be improved at a later date. Kucinich wants the entire loaf, and gets nothing. Kennedy was hated by the right wing for getting things done, Kucinich is ignored because he is ineffective and accomplishes nothing. I would like to see him replaced with another Democrat.

5. My representative Mike Honda said after the HCR passed they would work on pre-existing conditions |

and other elements that don't kick in immediately
Does it make you wonder why they were NOT included in the first place?
I am not telling people not to call as you are urging, but I personally have very little faith in the Democrats anymore
Many of these wonderful Democrats voted for the IWR, the patriot act, (which has been renewed), the telecommunications act, the welfare reform act, NAFTA, deregulation of the banking industry, including repeal of glass stegal(sic), etc.
Their "word" means very little to me at this stage

It is an old game. By postponing a portion of the costs, the analysis within a fixed period of years shows up better than it otherwise would.

18. They didn't have any issues with the money spent on two wars, and the financial bailout |
|
suddenly they are concerned about the deficit
I don't disagree with the reason you gave they are using, but I also don't believe they will follow through
I have no doubt this will pass, and they already know it. Most of this facade is being done for dramatic effect in my view

19. Merely Explaining, Sir, As It Seemed A Question Had Been Asked |
|
We agree that much of this concern about costs is nonesense, that the bank has been broken without thought on things that bring no benefit to the people at all, and now suddenly, when it comes to helping the people, we must pinch each penny till it screams. The country would be much better off if that dynamic were reversed.

under reconciliation. When I do see some evidence there are 50 votes and that they fix the worst abuses of the Senate bill, I will certainly write to him.

It's the democrats who didn't fight for universal health care that's the BIG PROBLEM and because they are the corporation whore.
I am not supporting this kind of health insurance care which is nothing but watered down and a bail out for insurance companies. Good luck to all who are excited about this tiny crumble.
Dennis, stay who you are. Never back down from what you believe is right for Americans.

16. Can you demostrate this is a net sum gain? |
|
Considering that it doesn't really guarantee anyone access to healthcare, and it potentially will worsen the benefits many folks already have, can you actually point to any study that indicates there is a net sum gain here? Just because someone has some help paying for mandatory insurance doesn't mean they'll have the ability to actually pay for the life saving measures they need. How many folks will be hurt by the deals they've cut with Big Pharma? How many will be hurt by the cadillac tax?
