190 of our Democratic representatives voted for war - more than the Rs. THIS IS OUR WAR NOW!
Edited on Thu Mar-11-10 01:42 PM by Subdivisions
What started as an unjust War on Terror under a president who ascended to the office via a stolen election (twice) is now definitively OUR WAR! We OWN it. We can no longer pin this atrocity on bush/cheney, the Rs, or the neocons.

Every death; every drop of blood; every broken soldier; every broken home; ALL OF IT, from this point forward, is on our shoulders!

Results of the vote on the Kucinich resolution to end the war in Afghanistan:

1. More accurate: Twelve times as many Democrats voted to get out as repubs
Five repubs (or 2.8 percent of the total number of repubs in Congress) voted for the resoluton. Sixty (or around 24 percent) of the Democrats voted to get out.

Do you really think DUers are stupid enough to think that there is more support for getting out among repubs?

12. They voted for an illegal and unjust war.
Our objective was to remove the Taliban from power. We did that and from the point forward there was no justification for the war. I not going to call them names but they own this war now not Bush or anyone else.

15. That wasn't the objective, but thanks.
You've left off a tremendous part of the mission: stabilize the region and ensure that the Taliban/AQ are not able to regain control.

23. That may be your mission. It wasn't the mission of the U.S.
Stabilize the region -- now that is funny. The region has not been stabilized for all of recorded history. The U.S. told the Taliban to give up AQ and that was all we wanted. They refused so we took them out. That was the mission. We will never be out of there if we adopt the mission you are cheer leading. Thanks for playing commando on the inte4rnet.

4. It's America's war..there was about 90% approval when the war in Afghanistan was started...
Bush f'kd it up by focusing too much on Iraq. President Obama is just finishing the job that should have been done years ago.

13. And that simply means 90% of Americans polled
are either idiots or uninformed.

This isn't a "job" that should have been done years ago. This is re-arranging rocks (as Durst said) on the heads of women and children and even adult men who had NADA to do with 9/11.

14. Which means what?
Because someone labels themselves a progressive that anything they do is progressive?

16. You think those 31 members labelled themselves progressives?
Conyers, Waxman, Slaughter, Thompson? They are all long-time progressives who have the voting record to back it up. Oh and they've also had more than 3 out of 98 of their bills passed.

It means that the Afghanistan issue is not a simple black-and-white, war-or-peace issue, no matter how hard some want it to be.

22. Of course they labeled themselves. You don't know that?
To join the Progressive Caucus in Congress you just join. It not like having to get into Skull and Bones or something. There is not some committee which looks over your career and votes and deems you worthy. On this issue --Afghanistan -- they are not taking a progressive stand despite their stand on any other issue. Yes it is black and white.
