Obama deputy campaign manager: A 'Real shot' Democrats will get 'slaughtered' in November

One of President Obama's top campaign advisers told CNN that Democrats should be worried about this year's midterm elections.

"I think that there is a real shot we are going to get slaughtered in elections this fall if we aren't leading the efforts to reform Washington," Steve Hildebrand said Wednesday. "We campaigned in '06 and '08, and if voters don't see that change, we haven't lived up to that promise."

Hildebrand was Obama's deputy national campaign director and one of the principal architects the candidate's field operation. After the election he went back to private consulting.

1. Yep, I read that
All these folks trying to shove so-called 'reform' down our throats would do well to take note.

5. Just wanted all those folks who say only Obama "haters" are worried about us being in trouble
to see this and know they are wrong. Very sincere Democrats and many Obama supports see the problem. Everyone who is scared and see what is happening is not a troll.

35. Well, you are an Obama hater, lilimuffins, so in your case it's true.
"Very sincere Democrats and many Obama supports see the problem."

There's nothing sincere about your posts at all, and you were never an Obama supporter.

You changed your screen name on that other message board you frequent, but we still know it's you.

28. Snide is fine. The statement of a self professed 'progressive'
quoting a truly ignorant scumbag of a republican is a fine irony.

nice try, though. The sentiment is no state secret. ;)

And I've made it no secret that I don't support the so-called 'reform' bill, primarily because it is in no way, shape or form, reform.

6. the average loss/gain is -28 seats for the midterms. What exactly is a slaughter?
losing 50 seats? 100 seats?

14. Still says nothing about numbers
Dems are expected to lose close to 30 seats this fall...that is the average in the last century.

What exactly constitutes a slaughter? 30 seats sounds like a slaughter to me.

31. Wouldn't it be considered a slaughter
if they lose 20-30 seats after preaching 80+% of Americans agree with them?

I agree that it appears that the Dems will lose big in the mid-terms. What I think is humorous is that those who are upset will choose to vote back into power members of the party that caused most of the problems we now face.

13. Who says to do that? But really, we need to find decent Dems.
The problem is many Dems are just like themembers of the former power party! We need to see a difference. That was what we voted for.

12. Recipe for disaster: Ignore the voters demand for "public plan like Medicare" & mandate that they...

.....purchase from a cartel (which only 34% think is "better than passing nothing").

It was no fluke that 82% of the 2008 Obama voters who voted for Brown in 2010 supported a Public Option, yet voted to send a Senator to Washington who campaigned on killing the current bill.

15. Slaughtered, maybe. If they are and it is because of the do nothing
congress this year then they had better understand that when the country keeps going down it is their names we will be remembering. Wonder how they are going to feel in the future when it all comes down to - "they could have done something"?

20. There's no way they can suddenly become competent after all this time.
Say goodbye to our two years of wonderful, wonderful Democratic rule.

They've done all they can for our country and now it's time to hand it back to the true overlords, the Republicans.

And we can let them rule our lives forever and ever world without end, amen.

26. What else is he going to say?
He blew it. He is trying to save himself by making everyone think that if he goes down all Democrats will go with him. Don't believe it until you see it. Most of us can tell the difference between do nothing Democrats and do something Democrats. Obama is a do nothing Democrat. He created his own problems and now he can live with the consequences.

And why exactly are you trying to scare people to death? Is there anything you would not do to burnish Obama's sagging reputation at the expense of people who actually deserve concern and the help he could not be bothered to give them? What is in it for you. You can't save people who are aware of reality by trying to make them deny it. The reality is Obama is not popular enough to take down a whole political party. If anyone goes down it will be because of their own efforts and because they emulated this administration and the blue dogs who prop it up.
