I apologize for the tawdry analogy, but I want to get your attention, and this is the situation we find ourselves in, IMO. What I mean is this: For decades the Repukes have been playing by rules of their own making, often completely immoral by most standards, unjustifiable by modern ethics, and we have sat here like pious dunces, absorbing whatever torture they wish to impose on the American people, saying we are too righteous to oppose them on the depths of their own playing fields.

But what have we gained by "taking the high road" other than to put millions of our friends and neighbors out of work, tossing millions of our own into poverty, ignoring our responsibility to feed the one out of eight of us who go to bed hungry each night.

Being shy and being kind and curtsying, bowing our heads in reverence to Congressional protocol and in reverence to the "other side of the aisle" has accomplished nothing, and it is time to shake off this shuck-and-jive and face our responsibility directly.

If we don't actively fight for what we want, it is not going to drop like dewdrops from Heaven. Please, we need to take off the gloves.

Agreed. And "shuck-and-jive" doesn't do anyone any good, either.

3. Of course you're right - unfortunately there are Dems, both on the Hill and in the WH, who...
...don't want what Democratic voters want - they're invested in the status quo and are fighting significant change.

The good news is recognizing that has made real Dems bolder. It really is a fight for the future of the party now - status quo, corporate Dems vs progressive populist Dems.
