3. On the one hand, a very nice quote
on the other, would it bother anyone to hear their elected official say that their dad's opinion was the only one that mattered to them?

5. I tend to agree.
It is a sentimental statement, but others' opinions should matter with his job.

4. His statement suggests to me that he was in Congress more to please
his dad than to serve his constituents. If that was the case, perhaps he does need to move on. I wish him well in his future endeavors.

6. my take is that he had a dad whose opinion mattered most to him
but who has a dad with the experience, wisdom and inside baseball like his? May he always have peace.

7. He and I must have had the same Dad. - I completely get it.
Edited on Thu Mar-11-10 11:34 PM by SmileyRose
it's been 4 years since my Dad died and I'm still just going through the motions most of the time. It's not a matter of not caring what anyone else thinks, ever. It's a matter of feeling completely and utterly lost, and not being able to function at the level that's necessary because of it.
