I read a review this morning on The Green Zone in the newspaper.
The reviewer called it too preachy and liberal about "alleged lies" concerning weapons of mass destruction. It went on to say how The Hurt Locker was better because it wasn't political. I emailed him and thanked him for his review saying his review convinced me to go see it since it was a fictionalized account based on the truth and the truth isn't liberal or conservative, it is what it is. Of course, I have no idea whether the movie is good or not. But I told him when there are lies about real events, sometimes all we are left with is art imitating life. Was I correct in doing so?

1. you need to read Roger Ebert's review
The last paragraph of his review:

"Green Zone" will no doubt be under fire from those who are still defending the fabricated intelligence we used as an excuse to invade Iraq. Yes, the film is fiction, employs farfetched coincidences and improbably places one man at the center of all the action. It is a thriller, not a documentary. It's my belief that the nature of the neocon evildoing has by now become pretty clear. Others will disagree. The bottom line is: This is one hell of a thriller.

2. Yes! You did the right thing.
Good for you mmonk. I know men and women who have returned from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm an Army vet as well as a Marine Corps wife and I concur, "art imitating life."

We could not have had a better actor portray the lead role than Matt Damon. He stated that other than the two main actors most of the roles were filled with former combat soldiers.

Thanks for taking a stand by writing a well considered and thoughtful letter.

4. Thanks. Damon is one of my favorite actors.
I'm glad many of the other roles were filled with former combat soldiers. That means a lot to me.

3. The NPR reviewer gave it some very high praise this morning!
The only weird twist, he noted, was that the character that appeared to be based on Judith Miller, was actually someone desperately searching for the truth, rather than just being a mouthpiece for the Bush administration...

5. That's ok I guess since it is fiction anyway and not a documentary
concerning the character in question.
