Do not interpret Pelosi's statement as saying there will never be a public option. |
|
She's saying that there isn't going to be one in the fix package because she can't provide the votes for it as a part of that bill. You can probably thank the Stupak 12 for that.
However, they passed a public option before in the House, meaning that it would be possible to do a separate PO bill later on.

10. We'll see how many of them end up caving. |

For the time being though, we need definite votes, not to count on flipping "no" votes.

2. I thought she said there would not be the votes in the senate for it. |

And really Stupak is using Abortion to further market goals, so that is pretty dispicable.
If a bill made abortion illegal, would he require there to be a health care bill in it to help the sick?

41 Senators have signed a letter asking for the public option. Does she think those are the only votes they could get for the public option? I sure don't see it that way. I could understand her thinking she didn't have a majority. After all, she only got the bill passed by two votes, and one Republican voted for it. But, how in heck can she say the votes aren't there in the Senate?

11. You know we haven't lost the election yet, right? |
|
Not only is there 8 months left before the elections, but despite what the GOP wants you to believe the only way we're losing the House is if the left has a temper tantrum and stays home.

12. Ah yes, the old "left has a temper tantrum" bullshit. |
|
History shows us we will lose seats. The mood on the right and a bad bill leaves us in grave danger of losing a whole lot more than the 28 that is on average.
If you can't take your blinders off long enough to see that, you are seriously in trouble.
