Howell Raines: Why don't honest journalists take on Roger Ailes and Fox News?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/11/AR2010031102523.html

By Howell Raines
Sunday, March 14, 2010

One question has tugged at my professional conscience throughout the year-long congressional debate over health-care reform, and it has nothing to do with the public option, portability or medical malpractice. It is this: Why haven't America's old-school news organizations blown the whistle on Roger Ailes, chief of Fox News, for using the network to conduct a propaganda campaign against the Obama administration -- a campaign without precedent in our modern political history?

1. Everybody else is afraid of Fox & Murdoch
they'll drag everybody down into the mud with them, as they will merely make accusations about the other media outlets, who will then quake in fear. And, if you get a few Fox hosts and the NY Post ranting about a personage in the media not on Fox or in the Post, they could be looking at death threats and the like as well.

4. Why: because most of the other media organizations are using their networks to
conduct a propoganda campaign against the Obama Administration.

What should shock the conscience, professional or otherwise, is how similar to FOX News coverage is to the coverage all the other networks when it comes to Health Care Reform?

The other networks have proven to be just as susceptible to the lure of Corporate Advertising dollars.

5. Could it be that the term "honest journalist" is an oxymoron?

Didn't the NYTimes, under Howell Raines, breathe new life into the bullshit Clinton scandals?
