1. Two types of Pringles are on the list
I think we will see more of this because companies are cutting corners.

9. no self respecting bacterium would be caught dead on a Pringle's chip..
:puke:

cardboard tastes better - the salmonella might actually give it some flavor..

16. I found Kettle Chips on the recall list too
I admit to liking those, but I rarely eat chips.

I was astounded at how many varied products contain this ingredient. What I read made me wonder what wouldn't be recalled, other than just basics like fresh veggies, meat, etc.

2. Thanks.
I found one product, the organic ranch dressing, which my kid had bought. It'll go out (although I think that her dressing is probably too old, and should go out anyway).

I wasn't aware what was in that stuff - from now on, I make our organic dressing at home.

10. Go to your supermarket lots of empty spaces on the shelves....
my local ones are filling the holes with duplicate merchandise. I got the recall notification 1 1/2 months after I bought and consumed some salsa. It has not returned to the shelves again. This is going to hurt a lot of companies, all because the manufacturers can't clean their plants.

18. Interesting that the same product is sold by many different manufactures.
Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 03:45 PM by Kablooie
Example:
Honey Mustard Pretzel Bites sold by 9 different companies.

A few years ago I found breakfast burritos made by Farmer John, a local meat processor, in the fresh bacon and sausage section. It soon disappeared and since then I've seen the exact same product, packaged the same way, sold as frozen under several different company names from different areas of the country.

21. K&R underground - I downloaded this list.
I'll pass this on to village blogs, as well. There is such a limited selection (we have only 2 grocery chains and WalMart) that if one village has bought any of these products, the others will have bought it, too.

Scary.

22. I just found Hydrolyzed corn gluten in just about all of Vigo's rice mixes...
Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 08:15 PM by cascadiance
I got a bunch of different bags of Vigo rice mix bags from Cost Plus right before Christmas time. Coincidentally, I just ate my first of these (a bag of Jambalaya rice mix) that I made yesterday. Don't feel sick from it, but perhaps someone should check to see if hydrolyzed corn gluten is amongst the ingredients to look at here.

The products I found with it in it in my cupboard are:
Vigo Saffron Yellow Rice
Vigo Red Beans and Rice
Vigo Black Beans and Rice
Vigo Jambalaya Cajun Rice Mix

Edit: I guess since I got them before the end of the last year, they probably are safe, but other folk that might have bought these recently might want to check on them.
