serious question: what has this administration done FOR unions? |
|
there might be some things, actually, but I don't know of them. I know about the support for mass firings of teachers, but that's not very helpful.

15. Unions wanted health care reform, but wanted someone else to pay for it |

3. the administration sadly seems concerned with workers and not primarily unions |
|
however the car bailout kept union workers employed - if your company closes the union does you no good

14. What does that mean? Do you suggest Obama be less |
|
concerned about workers who are not organized but make up the bulk of the work force?

13. My neighbors purchasing non-union made cars has a larger impact than President Obama ever could |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-13-10 10:45 AM by NNN0LHI
Many have cut their own throats and they still don't realize it.
Let me give you an example. I have a cousin who is an oral surgeon. His father, my uncle is a retired dentist. I would say half my uncles business at one time was from the workers at the local GM plant(now closed) and the two local Ford plants(now downsized). My uncle the dentist got rich collecting on the dental insurance these companies paid to him over the decades.
Then he retires the first thing he and his wife do is buy non-union made cars from GM and Fords competitors. His son(my cousin) the oral surgeon and his wife did the same thing.
Well my cousin did real good after he got out of medical school. For a while. Million dollar house. Has a condo in Florida with a couple more non-union made cars down there. He had two offices with probably half a dozen assistants a few years ago.
Well guess what? Now my cousin(the oral surgeon) is hurting financially. Got the condo in Florida up for sale. Can't sell it. His wife had to go back to work cleaning teeth for a Periodontist. She never planned on going back to work again. She likes to golf. He had to lay off half his office staff.
So whats the problem? Aren't people needing oral surgery any more? No, people still need just as much oral surgery, but now they don't have any money or insurance to pay for it. So business is way down.
See how it can come back to bite you? But my cousin sure showed them overpaid union autoworkers didn't he?
